HAWKS BATTLE BACK TO CLAIM SPOT IN 2019 OCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

ANCASTER, ON: The Humber Hawks men's indoor soccer team, defending OCAA champions, were pushed to the limit but came back to secure a tie with Redeemer in their last round-robin game and have advanced to the 2019 OCAA Championship tournament.

With the tie and a then a sudden-death kick-off with Mohawk at the end of the day, Humber also took first place and was crowned regional champions. The Hawks won the kick-off 4-3. 

Humber opened with a 2-2 tie with Mohawk, twice giving up leads in the match. The second was a blowout from the onset, with the Hawks winning 11-0. In this match, they scored three goals in the first shift to put the game out of reach early.

In the third match, the Hawks found themselves down 1-0 at the half to the host Royals and had elimination in their mirror. A furious second half saw them rebound, and now move on by way of the 1-1 tie.

Humber will now play in the 2019 OCAA Women's Indoor Soccer Championship on March 21 & 22, 2019, at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Vaughan.
