HAWKS BASEBALL TEAM, COACH & PLAYERS HONOURED AT 2018 OCAA AWARDS BANQUET

OSHAWA, ON: The Humber Hawks men's baseball team, the head coach and many of their players were recognized for their outstanding achievements over the course of the regular season on Thursday night at the Annual OCAA Men's Baseball Awards Banquet.

Humber experienced their best regular season to date with 17 wins and only 3 losses, a mark that saw them capture the 2018 OCAA regular season title. This is the first time in the six-year of OCAA men's baseball play that someone other than St. Clair has stepped up to the front of the room to receive the division champion plaque.

Matt Ferreira, in his first season as the head coach of the Hawks, was recognized for his fine work by being named as the OCAA Men's Baseball Coach of the Year. This is a special award, as it is the coaches from around the league that vote on this honour.

Heading around the diamond, Humber Hawks players were voted all-stars in every category.

Justin Marra, the only unanimous selection on all ballots, was chosen as the All-Star catcher for the second consecutive season.

Keegan Murphy is also a two-time All-Star, as he was selected in the infielder category.

2017 OCAA Player of the Year Liam Sutherland, who elevated his numbers in almost every category, returned to the All-Star team as an outfielder.

Second-year sensation Rory Pollard, with "off-the-chart" numbers of a 3-0 record and a 0.32 ERA (1 earned run given up in 22 innings) was the top vote-getter as a pitcher and chosen as an All-Star.

Andrew Thomson came from behind on the last weekend of OCAA play to capture the league batting title with an average of .422.
