No. 1 Men's Volleyball Rolls Centennial to Advance to OCAA Final Eight

ETOBICOKE - No. 1 men's volleyball rolled to its 19-straight win, sweeping the Centennial Colts (5-14, 8th East) in straight sets Saturday afternoon at the North Campus Gym. The final scores were 25-14, 25-14 and 25-15.

Rrezart Sadiku wasted no time in establishing Humber's dominance in the match, running on a six-point service run that included an ace. Freshman Joshua Fadare showed off what he does best on the court, nailing down untouchable kills that maintained Humber's lead. Blocks by Maximum Crowder and Andrew Blakey made it difficult for the Colts to catch up, as Humber finalized the first and second sets at 25-14.

Humber had a slow start in the final set against, as unforced errors kept Centennial within two points reach. Kills by Andrew Blakey and Joshua Fadare brought the Hawks back to their usual pace, forcing the Colts into a timeout at 13-6. Reentering the court, Eduardo Silvia Ferreira elevated Humber's lead from the service line, racking up a five-point run. Jaskarn Kalsi got the final word of the set, earning an ace to finish off the game at 25-15.

Joshua Fadare was the lead scorer and Hawk Nation Player of the Game, earning 12 kills, two blocks and an ace.

  • With this win, Humber improves their all-time record against Centennial to 6-7. 
  • Coach Wilkins recorded his 47th career OCAA postseason victory.
  • The Hawks improve to 8-1 all-time in the crossover round.

What's Next?
Top-ranked Humber men's volleyball will travel to Peterborough to compete in the 2020 OCAA provincials from Feb. 27-29. The Hawks will open the championship against the hosting Fleming Knights (10-8, 4th East) at 6 p.m.
