Women's Soccer crowned OCAA indoor champions
VAUGHAN—Humber women's soccer captured the OCAA provincial championship, defeating the Centennial Colts in the gold medal match, 3-2. It was the indoor squad's 12th provincial title and the second under head coach Jose Caro.
A lone tally from Kaylese Callender in the semifinal sent the Hawks to the gold medal game.
In the championship match, Callender opened the scoring again, dribbling past a defender before blasting a shot by the keeper into the bottom of the net. With the half running down, rookie keeper Angela Volpe made two incredible saves to keep the Colts off the board.
Humber doubled its lead when Cassy Ettore found Chantel Spalla in the box. With less than four minutes, Ettore set up another goal, this time finding Kaitlynn Russell to make the score, 3-0.
With less than a minute left, the Colts were able to add two tallies to make the match close, but it was not enough for the Colts and the Hawks won their second title since 2022.
Chantel Spalla was named the championship MVP, while Hayley Lewis was named to the all-tournament team.
