Title defence for No. 1 Men's Volleyball begins with sweep of Conestoga
ETOBICOKE — Top-ranked Humber men's volleyball will advance to the OCAA quarter-finals after defeating the Conestoga Condors (2-8, 8th West) Thursday evening at the North Campus Gym, 3-0. The final set scores were 25-21, 25-16 and 25-17.
Joshua Fadare had another huge night for Humber, finishing with a game-high 20 points on 14 kills, four aces and two blocks. On seniors night, Rrezart Sadiku also finished in double-figures for the Hawks, recording 10 points on nine kills and one block.
After a back-and-forth start to the opening set, the Hawks outscored the Condors 10-6 down the stretch to capture the first set. Joshua Fadare paced Humber's attack in the set recording five kills and three aces.
The second set was again close early on until a 6-0 run by the Hawks helped them capture the momentum. Humber would carry the play throughout the back half of the set to take a 2-0 set lead.
Humber dominated in the third and final set jumping out to a six-point lead to force a Conestoga timeout. The Hawks would push their lead all the way up to 11 points, ultimately taking the third set, 25-17 to complete the sweep.
