DUNDAS - It was another successful championship weekend for Humber Curling, who left the 2025 OCAA Championships with two podium finishes. This is the sixth consecutive season that Humber curling has finished with at least two podium finishes, with both squads collecting silver medals.
The women's team faced off against Fanshawe for the second year in a row. Fanshawe opened the scoring, taking a 1-0 lead in the first end before Humber took its own lead in the second, scoring twice.
Fanshawe stormed back in the third, scoring three points to take a 4-2 lead. Humber wasn't deterred, though, as the Hawks evened the score in the fourth end. Humber added points in the fifth and sixth ends before Fanshawe took an 8-6 lead with a four-point seventh end.
Fanshawe would close out the match with three points in the eighth end to secure an 11-6 victory.
Hailey Brittain and Amy Johnson were named OCAA Second-Team All-Stars.
On the men's side, Humber lined up against Mohawk for the fourth straight year. The Hawks scored two points in the opening two rounds, taking an early lead.
After a scoreless third, Humber would collect another point, giving the Hawks a 3-0 lead going into the fifth end. Mohawk got one back in the fifth, but Humber would respond in the sixth end, taking a 4-1 lead.
Mohawk would take its first lead of the afternoon in the seventh, scoring four points to take a 5-4 lead. The Mountaineers then had a fantastic eighth end, setting up two well-placed guards that stifled Humbers' chance at a comeback. Mohawk would take gold, winning 7-4.
Jacob Horgan, Jacob Dobson, and Noah Garner were named OCAA Second-Team All-Stars.
Humber curling will now prep for the 2025 CCAA national championship held in Lethbridge, Alberta, beginning February 26.
