ETOBICOKE, ON: A Thanksgiving weekend matchup saw Humber host the Seneca Sting in double header action on Saturday. Humber, came into the day on a modest four game winning streak and were looking to continue their winning ways against an improving Seneca squad. Unfortunately for Seneca, on such a festive weekend, Humber wasn't in a giving mood as they thumped the Sting 13-6 and 12-0.
HUMBER 13, SENECA 6
In the first contest of the afternoon, Humber sent ace Steven Hough to the bump looking to get the Hawks off on the right foot. The OCAA ERA leader had his worst start of the 2017 campaign as Hough would be tagged for six runs, five earned in this outing. In reality, one bad inning for Hough would drastically alter his stat line. In the fourth, after a walk and a couple of singles got the Sting to within four, Hough surrendered his second homerun of the season. The homerun was of the grand slam variety to bring the Sting back even with the Hawks after four complete. After the fourth, Hough settled back in as he set the next nine Seneca hitters down in order to secure the victory, his fourth of the season.
Offensively, Humber was active throughout the first three innings, scoring in each of those innings to take a 6-1 lead. In the sixth, the Hawks broke the 6-6 tie, scoring seven runs to finish the first game of their double dip on a strong note. As per the usual, Keegan Murphy led the offense for the Hawks going 3-5 with three extra base hits, and five RBIs. Liam Sutherland, Max Elofson, Dennis Dei Baning and Andrew Thomson all had extra base hits in the effort. RBIs were collected by Brandon Costa (2), Justin Marra, Dennis Dei Baning, Andrew Thomson, Max Elofson, Stephen Andreopoulos, and as previously mentioned Keegan Murphy (5).
Murphy was selected as the Hawk Nation Player of the Game.
HUMBER 12, SENECA 0
Riding high after a highly entertaining and fantastic offensive showing by this Humber squad, they continued their offensive onslaught against the Sting. Humber plated runs in each of the four innings in which they hit in. The Hawks would bombard the Sting right handers all game long having 30 at bats through the four innings. As advertised, Keegan Murphy was at it again going 2-2 with three more RBIs in the effort. Table setters, Aaron Arbic-Cohen and Liam Sutherland reached base four times, going 3-5, driving in two and scoring four runs combined. Other contributors included RBIs from Justin Marra (2), Dennis Dei Baning (2), and Brandon Costa.
On the mound, Humber sent right-hander Rory Pollard to the hill to build on his previous start against St. Clair College and push the Hawks winning streak to six games. Pollard was lights out going the distance, allowing three hits, one walk and punching out seven in his five innings of work.
Pollard was selected as the Hawk Nation Player of the Game.
HAWK NOTES
- Keegan Murphy now has 48 RBIs in his career, 21 so far this season.
- In Rory Pollards last two outings, he has allowed two runs over 10 innings, striking out 10.
- With the sweep, Hawks improve to 12-4 on the season.

The Hawks travel to play Seneca in Thornhill on Wednesday. Games are slated for first pitches to be thrown at 5:00pm and 7:00pm at Bishops Cross Park.
