BADMINTON TEAM SHINES AT ST. CLAIR OPEN
WINDSOR, ON: The Humber Hawks badminton team, the number one ranked team in the nation, continued to show why they are so highly touted this past weekend at the St. Clair Invitational in Windsor.
With the addition of Crystal Qu (Yuying) and Arpit Teneja, the Humber coaches have strengthened the team that already features CCAA National champion Chloe Rowe. In the event that featured many of the top club players in the province, these three dominated the tournament.
In her college debut, Crystal Qu rolled to gold in women's singles, women's doubles and the semi-finals of the mixed doubles division. Chloe Rowe continued her outstanding play, although just falling short of her third triple-crown of the season, took women's singles silver, teamed with Qu for women's doubles gold and advanced to the mixed doubles semi-finals with partner Cameron Lai.
Arpit Teneja, weary after arriving just hours before donning the Hawks blue and gold, advanced to the gold medal game in men's singles before bowing out due to fatigue. He showed flashes of brilliance and should be a force on the men's side at the upcoming OCAA Regionals and Provincials.
