EDMONTON, AL: The Humber Hawks badminton team, who won three gold last year, are in the position to do the same this time around, as they placed all three teams in the gold medal round. WOMEN'S DOUBLES: Chloe Rowe & Liz Duong The Hawks duo traveled through the round robin with a perfect 5-0 record, and then staged a thrilling first-set comeback to ultimately sweep the semi-final 2-0 and advance to the gold medal match. MEN'S DOUBLES: Cameron Lai & Darcy Schmidt This pair, who went 4-1 through the round robin, have seemingly saved their best for last as they played their best match of the tournament in the semi-final. They swept in fine fashion and now will look to avenge their only loss of the national event, in the gold medal final. MIXED DOUBLES: Crystal Qu & Arpit Teneja Qu and Teneja have been the class of the tournament in what is a very competitive discipline. They have went undefeated and not lost a set throughout, which is something they have done all season. HAMILTON, ON: To say that Hawk women have dominated the OCAA Badminton Player of the Year awards over the past number of years is truly an understatement, as evidenced by a Humber student-athlete receiving the award for the ninth year in a row. This year the award for top female player in the province was awarded to second-year sensation Chloe Rowe of the Humber Hawks.

HAMILTON, ON: Six Humber Hawks student-athletes were honored as 2018 OCAA Badminton All-Stars on Friday in Hamilton at the OCAA Badminton Championship Breakfast. The six Humber players were OCAA West Division Regional Champions in their disciplines. Second year sensation Chloe Rowe was also honored as the 2017 OCAA Female Badminton Player of the Year. This was the ninth consecutive year that a Humber player was recognized as the top female player in the province. WOMEN'S DOUBLES Chloe Rowe & Elizabeth Duong MEN'S DOUBLES Darcy Schmidt & Cameron Lai MIXED DOUBLES Crystal Qu (Yuying) & Arpit Teneja All players will now enter play this afternoon in search of another OCAA championship. Play commences this afternoon in Hamilton at Mohawk College, and will continue until Saturday afternoon and medal round play.

This coming weekend, February 16 & 17/18, Mohawk College will host to the top three finishers in each discipline from the East and West Divisions.
