HUMBER TO HOST INAUGURAL WOMEN’S RUGBY 7’S EVENT

ETOBICOKE, ON: The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association has introduced Women's Rugby 7's to its slate of programming this season. Women's Rugby, the sport that the Hawks have participated in since Women's Rugby came into play a number of years ago, still operates, but only with the eastern based colleges.

Joining the Hawks in the new Women's Rugby 7's league are all the teams that made up the OCAA West Division last year. Sheridan, Mohawk, Seneca and Conestoga will compete with the Hawks this season.

For those who are unaware of the 7's concept, it is very different on many fronts to the traditional 15's. Games are only 14 minutes in length – 2 seven minute halves, and is obviously played with seven aside on the field. Fans will find the game incredible fast with players utilizing the entire pitch.

Saturday, September 24 at Humber will mark the first event of the year. Due to the shortness of the games, teams will play a full round robin format normally seen in tournament play, but these games will be recorded as league games. Four schools will host these single day events, therefore each team completing 16 games, and the Final Four championship will be held at Sheridan College.

All of the games will be played on the Humber Valley Field. The complete schedule is provided below.
