WHITBY, Ont – The No. 4 Humber men's golf team will play for its national-best 11th CCAA Championship title this week at the Royal Ashburn Golf Course. The tournament will consist of four 18-hole rounds.
Last Time Out
Led by sophomore Conner Watt's first career OCAA individual championship, Humber men's golf captured its first provincial championship in three years. The Hawks defeated No. 3 Georgian by 40 strokes, shooting 56-over par (311-301-308—920). Watt finished six-over par through the 54-hole event, holding off teammate and second-place finisher Cameron Brennan (78-74-77) on the last circuit of play at the par-72 Crimson Golf Club.
Last Year
At the Fox Meadow Golf and Country Club in Stratford, PEI, the Hawks posted a fifth-place finish (891), led by Michael Vance's 14th place finish.

The Field
No. 4 Humber will be joined by No. 1 UNB (ACAA), No. 2 Champlain St. Lawrence (RSEQ), No. 3 UFV (PACWEST), No. 5 UBC-Okanagan (PACWEST), No. 6 Reed Deer (ACAC), No. 7 Georgian (OCAA), No. 8 d'Andre-Laurendau (RSEQ), No. 9 Holland (ACAA), No. 10 Augustana (ACAA), and Durham (OCAA).
Scouting Humber
Humber enters the Championship with three tournament wins this season, finishing first at the Georgian Invitational, NCAA Mercyhurst Invitational, and the OCAA Championship.
Scouting the Field
The UNB Varsity Reds (ACAA) enter the championship as the top-ranked program in the country after capturing its first team title at the 2017 ACAA Golf Championship. Led by Corey McMinniman (76-75), UNB won the won the team title after placing four golfers in the top-five positions.
The Course
Royal Ashburn is a championship golf course well known for its undulating terrain, tree-lined fairways, large greens and exceptional conditioning. Designed for player's of all abilities, Royal Ashburn offers five sets of tee's and can be enjoyed from 4,783 yards to over 7,100.
Opening in 1962, Royal Ashburn has constantly taken steps to enhance the design and playing characteristics of the course and has matured into one of Canada's top 50 ranked golf courses.
Top Honours
Men's golf coach Nick Trichilo was named the 2017 OCAA Golf Coach of the Year, marking the first time a Humber golf coach has garnered the award.
