The Storyline
Humber men's basketball (9-3, 3rd West) will continue its three-game homestand Friday evening when Lambton (7-5, 5th West) visits the North Campus Gym.
The game will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network at 8 p.m. with Derrick Sutherland and Josh Rawlings on the call, and Danielle Dupuis reporting from the sidelines.
Last Time Out
C.J. Bennett recorded his second triple-double of the season in a 102-66 win over Conestoga (3-10, 9th West) on Jan. 13 at the North Campus Gym. Freshman Stefan Grujic had the best game of his young career – recording his first double-double – finishing with 14 points (7-of-10) and 17 rebounds.
Scouting Lambton
Led by 2015-16 scoring champion Branden Padgett, Lambton is looking to return to the OCAA playoffs after missing out last season with a 3-13 record.
Averaging 88.6 points-per-game, the Lions lead the league in free throws made and is currently hitting 73.8 percent (222-of-301) from the charity stripe.
Padgett is second in the league in scoring, averaging 24.8 ppg. In his last three games at the North Campus Gym, he is averaging 22.3 ppg on 41.1 percent shooting (23-of-56) from the floor.
Last Meeting
DeQuon Cascart scored a career-high 20 points as the Hawks came away with a 107-98 win in overtime at Lambton. A late fourth-quarter basket from Curwin Elvis forced the extra period, and from there the Hawks outscored Lambton 14-5.
Home Court Advantage
Dating back to the 1993 season, the Hawks are 26-1 all-time against Lambton. The Lions only win came in an 83-74 victory at home in 2015 and are 0-13 all-time at the North Campus Gym.
From Deep
Humber continues to hit more 3-pointers than any West division team at an impressive 37.5 percent clip. Kenny Ejim has hit 33 triples this season, the most on the team, and the tenth most in program history.
Century Mark
The 2017-18 Humber Hawks are scoring at an unprecedented rate, recording seven 100-plus point games this season. That mark ties the program record set during the 1990-91 season, the same year Humber captured its first national title.
Boarding
In Humber's 102-66 win over Conestoga, the Hawks recorded 73 rebounds – the highest single-game total in the Patrick Au era.
Humber 500
C.J. Bennett became the 29th player in program history to score 500 career points. Bennett now sits 27th all-time in scoring, surpassing Ancil Martin's mark of 511.
Kenny Ejim needs 74 more points to join Bennett in the 500-point club.
