VAUGHAN S.S. STANDOUT JOINS HUMBER BASKETBALL

ETOBICOKE, Ont -- The Humber men's basketball program has signed Fowzi Mohamoud, a five-foot-ten point guard who starred at Vaughan Secondary School, as announced by head coach Patrick Au.

"Fowzi is an exceptional addition to our team," said Coach Au, who led the Hawks to an OCAA bronze medal last season. "He's a fierce competitor and plays with great poise. These are essential qualities to being a point guard at Humber."

Mohamoud, who hails from Rexdale, has enrolled in the General Arts and Science program at Humber College and will begin his freshman season at North Campus this Fall.

"Humber College is close to home and has a welcoming environment," said Mohamoud when asked why he chose Humber.  "The basketball program has a winning history that I plan on contributing to."

A four-time York Region Athletic Association champion, Mohamoud competed for the provincial powerhouse Vaughan Voyageurs.

"He comes from a great program, having played at Vaughan for Coach Gymnopoulos," added Coach Au.  "We are really looking forward to having Fowzi be an integral part of our team."

Mohamoud, along with incoming recruits Jaspreet Singh, Jerome Gayle, and Terry Hill, will join the rest of the Humber men's basketball program on September 5 when open tryouts begin.
