About

Jose Caro is entering his second season as head coach for Humber women's soccer in 2023. He became just the third head coach in program history and was introduced by athletic director Ray Chateau on May 10, 2022.

Coach Caro immediately impacted the Hawks in his first year, finishing the season unbeaten and earning the West Division title. At the provincial championship, the "one-trick" ponies went to Durham looking for their sixth consecutive podium finish. An incredible free kick from Elisa Oliveira in the semifinal against Niagara forced extra time. Another free kick from Oliveira with time running out was banged home by Kaitlyn Russell to send the Hawks to the finals. Playing No. 2 Seneca in the gold medal match, Humber blanked the Sting 2-0 to capture the program's first OCAA title since 2012.

A Canada Soccer C License Trained Coach, Caro has been coaching soccer for more than a decade, beginning with the Brampton Youth Soccer Club in 2009. In 2016, he coached with the FCT club, champions of the 2016 Tottenham Hotspurs Invitational Tournament in Maryland and also West Toronto United FC, capturing the 2018 Ontario indoor provincial championships and the GPS NY college showcase championships. He also led a Woodbridge squad in 2016 with Hall of Famer Filomena Aprile, which went 12-0-3 with 47 goals and seven against - comprised mostly of Humber players.

Caro was a four-year starter for the Humber men's soccer team, capturing back-to-back national championships in 2012 and 2013. Caro graduated from the University of Guelph-Humber with a Bachelor of Psychology before earning a master's degree in Applied Behavioral Analysis from Western University.

Caro is also the head coach of the Elite Soccer Academy senior and U21 squads of the Ontario Women's Soccer League (OWSL), where he will keep the majority of the Humber soccer squad competing year-round.

Caro currently resides in Halton Hills with his wife.
