The Storyline
The Humber women's basketball team will continue its three-game road trip Oct. 26, heading to Hamilton to face the Mohawk Mountaineers (0-1, 10th West). Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Last Time Out
The Hawks kicked off their 2018 season on the road in a provincial championship game rematch against the Fanshawe Falcons (1-0, 2nd OCAA). The shorthanded Hawks could not keep pace with the Falcons, getting outscored 24-7 in the final frame, falling 79-51. Jahnae Gyles led the team in scoring with 19 points on 7-of-25 (28.0 per cent) shooting from the floor.

Scouting Mohawk

  • Mohawk opened the season with a 62-51 loss at UTM (1-0, 4th West) Oct. 20.
  • Sam Pocrnic, the 2016 OCAA Rookie of the Year, finished with a game-high 29 points in the loss to the Eagles. Pocrnic finished the game shooting a perfect 13-for-13 from the free throw line.
  • The 2018-19 Mountaineers feature nine freshmen this season.

Previous Meeting
Humber beat Mohawk last season in the championship semifinal, 91-65. It was the fifth straight season they met in the tournament, with Humber winning all but one. Jahnae Gyles finished with a game-high 19 points off the bench, while Miea Campbell-Johnson added 11 points and seven rebounds for Humber.

All Good Things Come to an End
Humber's loss to Fanshawe was its first OCAA loss since Nov. 8, 2014. The 81-game streak was an OCAA record, surpassing the previous mark of 67, established by Algonquin in 2015.

What's Next?
Humber will conclude its three-game road trip Nov. 1 at Niagara (1-0, 3rd West). Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
