56-POINT OUTBURST IN SECOND HALF PROPELS HAWKS OVER REDEEMER

HAWKS LOOK TO KEEP ROLLING AGAINST REDEEMER

The Humber Hawks Men's Basketball Team will travel to Redeemer on Tuesday night looking to build on a dominant performance in their home opening win.

Leading the way in Thursday night's 97-77 victory over Mohawk were Chad Bewley, Tyrone Dickson and newcomer Kenny Ejim. The trio combined to pour in 39 points, and all shot over fifty percent from the field. Dickson, the Hawks single season rebounding record holder, was crucial on the boards against an imposing Mohawk front line, providing rim protection and pulling down eight rebounds. Ejim and Bewley were also big on the glass with a combined 15 boards, and when the Mountaineers made a second half run it was their consecutive fast break dunks that sealed the deal.

Humber's offensive balance was on full display, as four players reached double digits and seven had at least seven points. On the defensive end, the blue and gold managed to hold Mohawk to 32 percent shooting from the field and under 25 percent from beyond the arc, outstanding numbers against a perennial OCAA power and a team with some great scorers. Veteran point guard Gibson Eduful did an excellent job of spearheading the offense, as his 15 point, 4 assist, 5 rebound line attests to.

In 2013/14, the team outscored opponents by nearly eighteen points per game, had a rebounding margin of a plus-twelve on a per game basis, and shot eight percent better from the field than the opposition. Nearly all indicators point to Humber being among the provinces elite, and the blue and gold have added some of the country's top recruits to a group that returns the majority of its core pieces; it is certainly an exciting time for the program.

The Hawks defeated Redeemer in both of their meetings last season, a trend they will be looking to continue. Opening tip is set for 8pm, stay tuned to Twitter for updates.
