COMING OFF STRONG WEEKEND, MEN’S BASKETBALL TO HOST LAURIER

Coming off a weekend that saw the blue and gold win consecutive games, the Men's Basketball team will play host to the Laurier Golden Hawks this Tuesday in a pre-season tilt.

The Hawks travelled to Ottawa, playing a doubleheader on Saturday. First up was a match-up with Montmorency, with Humber taking a convincing 72-47 win. 6'10″ centre Vule Grujic led the charge with a bruising fifteen points down low, while small forward Matthew Bukovec and the team's all-time single season rebounding leader, Tyrone Dickson, chipped in with eight apiece.

Humber then faced Algonquin in a tight game; close all the way through, it ended up heading to overtime. The front-line of Grujic and Chad Bewley were dominant down low as the pair combined to drop thirty; Matt Bukovec had fourteen of his own, and the Hawks pulled away in the extra frame to come away with the 85-80 win. The team shot 43.8 percent from three, with their inside-out style of play leading to numerous open triple's that the team did an excellent job of converting.

The game tips off at 8pm on Tuesday night; with only a couple weeks until the programs regular season tip off on October 23rd at home against Mohawk, the squad appears to be rounding into form at the right time. Check back for updates throughout the game.
