HAWKS HEADED TO PROVINCIAL’S IN SEARCH OF FOURTH TITLE IN SEVEN YEARS

In search of their fourth Provincial Title in the past seven years, the Men's Basketball Team is headed to Oshawa this weekend.

The Hawks put together an impressive regular season, going 17-1 en route to nabbing the Western Division's top seed. Winners of their final nine regular season games, Humber's point differential of plus- 17.5 led the province, and the blue and gold rank near the top of nearly every major statistical category:

Defense has been the teams calling card all season, as they have held opponents to Ontario's lowest point total (68.1) field goal percentage (34.6%). The Hawks ability to protect the rim and clog the paint has been a difference maker; the duo of Vule Grujic and Ty Dickson combine for nineteen rebounds and nearly four blocks a game. On the perimeter, Humber boasts some of the provinces quickest guards and wings that have held the opposition to just 28 percent shooting from being the arc and forced nearly sixteen turnovers a night.

Heading up the back-court is Gibson Eduful, the team's starting point guard and a handful on both ends of the court. Eduful has hounded opposing guards up and down the court, making life miserable attempting to get into  sets. Eduful has averaged over two steals a night, a big reason why the Hawks own the provinces stingiest defensive unit. Number three has also been Humber's lead distributor, averaging over four assists a game. Curwin Elivs and RJ Ramirez round out the backcourt; both excel pushing the ball up the court and are solid outside shooters.

On the offensive side of the ball, it has been the Hawks balanced scoring attack that has made them so potent. The blue and gold currently have six players average more than eight points a game, while six have shot 47 percent or better from the floor. Humber has the provinces deepest team, and the drop off from starters to bench is rarely noticeable. The trio of Grujic, Dickson and Ancil Martin are combining to put up thirty-four points a night.

The Hawks kick play off on Friday at 1pm against the 10-8 Lambton Lions, stay tuned to @HumberHawks for updates throughout.
