THE HAWKS DEEP, TALENTED GROUP ARE 8-1 AT THE SEASONS MIDWAY POINT

With the 2014/15 season reaching its midpoint, the Men's Basketball Team has earned a well-deserved rest as they gear up for a second half run. While it is too early for any definitive conclusions, the deep, talented group certainly appears to be among not only Ontario's best, but the country's.

The Hawks head into the holiday's with a record of 8-1, and will be tied with Fanshawe for top spot in the Western Division. Humber sits in Ontario's top three on both the offensive and defensive side of the court, averaging 87.6 points per game while giving up just 69.9. This balance and ability to consistently wear opponents down comes largely from the OCAA's strongest group of reserves, including a trio of potent swingmen in Chad Bewley, Kenny Ejim and Matthew Bukovec. The three have combined for twenty-one points a night, over fifty percent shooting from the field, and have been a big part of the blue and gold's suffocating defense. Combo guard RJ Ramirez has also provided a big boost with the reserve unit, combining great on-ball defense with an outside touch that has him hitting over 41 percent of his three point attempts.

While the deep bench has been crucial, the starting five have been consistently dominant as a unit. The frontcourt combination of Vule Grujic and Tyrone Dickson have been bullying teams in the post all year, combining to average 23 points and more than seventeen boards a night. On top of the job that they have done scoring the ball, the two have made opponents lives miserable scoring in the paint, with the length and athleticism to deter nearly everything at the rim. The 6'10" Grujic alters interior efforts consistently, while Dickson already holds Humber's all-time single season rebounding record and has an uncanny ability to find the ball. At the point, Gibson Eduful has been steady all year long, getting the Hawks into their sets and running the offense efficiently. Eduful has shot 51.4 percent from the floor, leading the team in both assists and steals and providing excellent defense at the point off attack.

At the two and three, Junior Davis and Brayden Gohn have been jack-of-all trades thus far. Davis, perhaps the teams most improved player from last year, has been a spry defender with the ability to score in bunches, hitting his three's at a nearly forty percent clip. Gohn has repeatedly shown the ability to swing momentum with a knack for finishing strong at the rim, while leading the team with a sterling 67.8 percent field goal percentage.

After the break, Humber will open looking to avenge their only loss of the year when Fanshawe visits the Athletic Centre. The way the first half has gone, the sky is the limited for a program that is clearly on the rise.
