HAWKS BOW OUT ON FIRST DAY OF PROVINCIALS

OSHAWA: Back to back losses to Fanshawe and Durham has ended Humber's men's baseball season on Friday at Kinsmen Stadium in Oshawa.

The first game saw the Hawks lose 3-1, with the deciding 2 runs coming via the unearned variety. James Byrnes spun a terrific game was saddled with the loss. For his efforts, Byrnes was selected as the Humber Player of the Game.

With the loss Humber had to win or go home in the next game against the host Durham Lords. The Hawks came out strong early and held a 4-1 lead. Hurler Brandon Habibula, who had been terrific all season was unable to find any tempo and gave up hits in every inning but the first. Down 6-4 in the bottom of the seventh, Humber led off with a single and a double, and had the tying run at second base. They were able to push across a run, but the game ended with a double play. Third baseman Casey Espana was the Humber Player of the Game.
