HAWKS SWEEP AWAY DURHAM IN DRAMATIC FASHION TO RUN STREAK TO 10

ETOBICOKE: The Humber Hawks men's baseball team took unusual routes on their way to sweeping Durham, and extending their winning streak to ten consecutive games.

The only common factor Saturday was that the Hawks had trouble holding leads in both games, as they won Game 1 by a score of 7-5 win. The Hawks held Durham from scoring with the bases loaded in the seventh inning, after the visiting Lords cut into a 7-3 lead, to a tight score of 7-5 in the sixth. Humber had a bat-around inning in the third, scoring five times courtesy of Durham's 6 errors in the frame.

Starter Nick Collett grabbed the win, while veteran James Byrnes came in for the save. Player of the Game Daniel Campos led the Hawks with three hits and three runs scored. Brian MacDonald stayed hot as he added two hits and two RBI's.

Game 2 saw the Humber team rolling along with a big lead at 7-2, but they allowed the Lords to come all the way back to take an 8-7 lead in the top of the sixth. Humber answered in what was one of the most improbable comebacks one could imagine. They not only tied the game early in the inning, but they ran up 14 batters and scored 11 runs to not only beat Durham, but complete the mercy victory.

The Hawks had many hitting stars, led by Andrew Thompson and his 4 for 4 day which included 2 doubles. He also walked in his fifth at-bat. Sean Matson added 3 hits and scored 4 times. The big knock came off the bat of Player of the Game Justin Pacheco as he cleared the bases with a gap-double for 3 RBI's when the game was tied at 8. Tyler Goertzen, who came in to get Durham to hit into an inning ending double play to end the sixth, took the win for Humber.

With the win the Hawks move into second place with an impressive 11-3 mark.
