HAWKS COMPLETE 4-GAME WEEKEND SWEEP OVER GEORGE BROWN

The Humber Hawks men's baseball team continued to soar against the George Brown Huskies in Sunday afternoon's double-header.

The Hawks entered the matchups coming off of two blowout victories against the huskies 14 to 0 and 12 to 2 on Saturday.

Humber's starting pitcher Brandon Habibulah came out strong striking out one batter and forcing two groundouts.

The Hawks big Bats and savvy base running made their appearance early in the first inning.

At the bottom of the first Hawks outfielder Brian Macdonald scored an RBI single. A moment later Daniel Campos scores an RBI single bringing Macdonald home.

In that same inning an errant pitch bring home third baseman Sean Mattson.

At the top of the second Habibulah's strong showing continues with two more groundouts and a strikeout.

Habibulah continued to heat up in the third strikes out two more Huskies.

Habibulah flexed his offensive muscles as he hits a two run RBI double with the bases loaded to put the Hawks up 7 to 0.

 An errant throw bring in Kyle McClean and minutes later Thomson hits an RBI single to make it 9 to 0.

Habibulah faced a little adversity in the fourth inning giving up two base hits and walking a batter but the Hawks team defense held strong to keep the Huskies scoreless.

Bottom of the fourth Ryan McDougal hits a ground rule RBI double. McClean hits an RBI single to make it 11 to 0

The Hawks made a pitching change giving Habibulah some well-deserved rest and substituting in Brian MacDonald.

MacDonald gave up an RBI single making the final score of game one 11 to 1.

Habibulah was named player of the game for game one.

George Brown drew first blood in game two with Humber's starting pitcher Tyler Goertzen Giving up 3 base hits and one run.

The Hawks answer back with a one run RBI double by Ryan McDougall.

Goertzen bounces back in the top of the second retiring three consecutive batters.

In the second inning Brandon Costa hits an RBI single making it 4 to 1

Bottom of the third McDougal connects on an RBI pop fly to go up 5 to 1.

In the fourth inning the Huskies made two unforced errors allowing two runs making the score 7 to 1.

Bottom of the fifth McDougal grounded out for an RBI making the score 8 to 1

In the sixth Goertzen gives up a double allowing one run to score making it 8 to 2.

Humber got a bit a scare as George Brown began making a comeback in the seventh inning.

 Goertzen give up an RBI single to George Brown making the score 8 to 3.

Goertzen's struggles continued as he gives up a three run RBI triple. He managed to keep his composure to strike out the last batter ending the comeback 8 to 6

After the matchup Habibulah said all he cared about was getting the "W" for his teammates.

"I just wanted to get in there and get the win for the boys and continue off of our strong performance yesterday," Habibulah said.

Habibulah says with the recent winning streak it shows that the team chemistry is building.

"We got our kinks out from yesterday and we started hitting the ball even better and we brought that same momentum into todays game our fielding, our pitching and all the little pieces are coming," Habibulah said.

Outfielder Brian MacDonald says the huskies gave them a little bit of a scare in the last game.

"We got a little bit nervous there with a couple runners on and we were only up by two but our pitcher did a good job and was able to shut them down," Macdonald said.

MacDonald says he hope the winning streak will help them in their next match up in Durham.

"Our last five games we were five and O so it's good momentum moving forward to play Durham on Wednesday so hopefully we can take one from them and keep it rolling," MacDonald said.

The Hawks face Durham College Wednesday Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. in Oshawa.
