Bio

Michael Kopinak is beginning his ninth year as Associate Director of Athletics and Recreation at Humber College. As the Associate Director, Kopinak works alongside Director, Ray Chateau to ensure Varsity Operations and Recreation Operations are met by communicating with coaches and staff on a day-to-day basis. The importance of the role is to ensure the ongoing growth and success of student-athletes and athletics. 

In addition to the role as Associate Director, Kopinak is on numerous committees for the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association specifically, Senior Leadership Council and Return to Sport Committee during COVID-19. Kopinak also works alongside other committees including, the Chair of Eligibility Committee in Ontario, National Convenor for Badminton and Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Committee.

Prior to this, he had been with Humber since 1999 working in various positions which include Associate Director of Public Safety, Manager of Residence Life and International Student Services and Manager of Student Life. 

A native from Guelph, On., Kopinak attended the University of Windsor earning a double major (Honours) degree in Psychology and Criminology before completing his MEd from Memorial University.

Kopinak and his wife, Lisa, reside in Caledon with their two kids, Matty and Josie as well as Lisa’s mom, Jean.
