HAWKS SNAG TOP SEED AFTER REGIONAL SWEEP

By: E. Garro

ETOBICOKE, Ont -- It was the regional championships on Tuesday for the Humber Hawks men's soccer team at the Ontario Soccer Centre. The men had to play three games and finish in at least second place to qualify for the OCAA indoor championships in two weeks.

They were able to win all three matches and qualify for the provincial championships as one of the top seeds.

In the first match Humber defeated Sault Ste Marie Courgars 10-0, followed by a 10-1 thrashing of St. Lawrence College.

Due to the fact Durham College had also won both games but didn't concede a goal, Humber needed to win the final match in order to finish as the first seed.

Humber took it to Durham from the opening whistle and took the game by a final score of 4-0.

Luca Baldasarre finished as Humber's leading scorer followed by Jaineil Hoilett.

The provincial championships will be held at Redeemer College in Ancaster, from March 23-25.
