SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont -- No. 2 Humber men's basketball (16-0, 1st West) concluded its northwest Ontario trip with another offensive clinic, beating Sault College (0-15, 11th West) Sunday evening, 129-58. Similar to yesterday, the Hawks continued their brilliant style of play and keep the undefeated streak alive.
DeQuon Cascart made his return to the starting lineup and made the most of it. The third-year guard poured in 27 points while knocking down 50 per cent of his three points shots (five-of-10). First-year forward Jimmy Rich finished with a career-high 18 points off the bench. Jordan Francis added 17 points while a total of six Humber players finished in double figures.
Once again, the Hawks wasted no time putting the game away early-on. After two big offensive quarters in the first half, Humber went into halftime with a 69-28 lead. The third quarter was relatively slow by Humber standards, finishing with only 15 points. The coaches and players have emphasized their need to not let up when leading big. The team certainly listened, as the Hawks exploded in the fourth quarter, scoring the most points in the Samson Downey era - 45 points.
Despite being one of the best offensive teams in the country, Humber's offence continues to show signs of growth. Since 2019 began, the Hawks have hit the century mark in six of their last eight games. That is not to take credit away from their defence. The Hawks forced a season-high 26 steals against the Cougars demonstrating that they're a serious threat on both ends of the court.
After scoring a total of 19 points over the weekend, Curwin Elvis is now two points away from entering Humber's top-10 scoring list. With four games remaining Elvis has a chance of becoming the first player in program history to play in 90 regular season games.

No. 2 Humber returns to the North Campus Gym Feb. 7 to conclude its regular season series with Niagara (12-4, 4th West). Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. and will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network.
