CURLERS HEAD TO THUNDER BAY FOR PROVINCIAL PLAY-DOWNS

THUNDER BAY, ON: The Humber College men's, women's and mixed curling teams will be playing for OCAA gold this coming week at the Port Arthur Curling Club in Thunder Bay. The Provincial championship event will commence on Thursday, February 11 and conclude with medal games on Sunday, February 14.

All three Humber teams had solid performances last year at the OCAA championships. The mixed and women's team placed second, grabbing the silver medal. The women's team went on to snare their second consecutive CCAA National silver medal.

All three teams have had the opportunity to compete in pre-tournament events, and each team secured positive results. The women won both the Humber and Niagara Invitationals, while the men placed second in both events. The opportunity for mixed teams to play in pre-championship tournaments is normally limited, but Humber's squad participated in the Humber Invitational and were able to develop chemistry which should help them this coming week.

"All three teams have played together all season in play at Weston", said Hawks head coach Cindy Bishop. "This should certainly bode well in the upcoming provincials, as curling requires teamwork and support in each match".
