Five Humber Players Receive All-Ontario Honours at Annual OCAA Volleyball Banquet

NORTH BAY – After finishing the regular season with a 15-3 record, No. 15 Humber women's volleyball team saw five student-athletes honoured Wednesday evening when the league announced its yearly awards as determined by a polling of the conference's coaches.

Third-year middle Alex Krstonosic concluded her best season with a first team all-star selection. In 13 matches, the Toronto native recorded double-digit scoring in 11 games, including a career-high 22 points at Fanshawe. Her swing percentage of .381 was the second-best in the league.

Fourth-year right side Julia Watson received first team all-Ontario honours as well, leading the team in kills while finishing tenth in the league in points-per-set.

Transfer Shiann Williams received a second team nod after she led the Hawks with 175 points. She dominated at the net for Humber all season and her 49 blocks led the league and were the most in program history since the 1999 rule change.

Now a two-time all-star, setter Alex Bartmann was a second team selection after leading the league and setting a new program record with 481 assists. In three seasons with the Hawks, the Uxbridge native has 1,093 dimes – the most in program history.

Freshman Alex Lachapelle played in all 18 matches for the Hawks, racking up a program-record 262 digs. The Ajax native joins Adela Xhameta, Brittany Vanderlaan, and Breanna Golding as the only Humber players selected to the all-rookie team.

The Hawks have had 65 OCAA all-star selections during the Coach Wilkins era.

No. 15 Humber women's volleyball resumes postseason action tomorrow, taking on Canadore in the quarter-final round. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
