HAWKS GO UNDEFEATED TO CAPTURE GEORGIAN INVITATIONAL

BRADFORD, ON: The Humber Hawks women's indoor soccer team, in final preparations for the upcoming OCAA Regional Championships, won the Georgian Grizzlies Invitational on Friday.

The Hawks went 3-0 in the round robin, then knocked off Sault College by a score of 5-0 in the championship final.

Humber beat the host Grizzlies to open the tournament by a score of 2-0. Hayley Mackie and Taylor Thomson provided the offence, with a goal each.  Game two saw a much tighter match, but the Hawks squeezed by the Sault Cougars by way of a goal by Guilia Zanardi. The final round robin game saw Humber give up a goal, but they responded with their biggest output of the day. Shaniece Bennett scored twice, and Taylor Thomson, Emily Tirabassi and Rachel Spratt scored singles in the 5-1 win.

The final saw the Hawks control the game, as they led 1-0 at half, on their way to a convincing 5-0 win over the squad from Sault. Bennett had two more goals, while Rebecca Spratt, Mikaela Zeballos and Kelly Flores scored once each. Keeper Vaness Fiore once again provided solid goal keeping.
