ETOBICOKE, Ont -- No.12 Humber Hawks women's basketball (11-1, 2nd West) rolled past the University of Toronto-Mississauga Wednesday evening, winning its first home game of 2019, 75-29.

Brittney English fell one rebound shy of notching her first career triple-double. Nonetheless, she led the way for the Hawks, filling the stat sheet with 16 points, 11 assist and nine rebounds. Miea Campbell-Johnson and Jahnae Gyles finished with 12 points, each, while Jaime Gordon rounded out Humber's double-digit scorers with ten points.

UTM (4-9, 8th West) struggled to find open looks against the Hawks throughout the night, as Humber's top-ranked defence finished tonight's game with eight blocks. The Eagles shot a season-low 14 per cent (10-of-71) from the field, scoring just 11 points in the first three quarters. Humber's defence continues to improve as the season goes on, ranking number one in the league in rebounds-per-game and securing a season-high 66 boards.

The Hawks took control of the game from the tip-off, beginning the game on a 23-3 run.  Jahnae Gyles led the way in the first half with her usual energetic play. Gyles' playmaking and efficiency from the field was a key factor in the first half of the game. Midway through the second-quarter Humber took a 35-4 lead easily taking over on both ends of the floor.

The second half was relatively the same as the first. The Hawks to a 50 point lead in the third and put the game out of hands. UTM showed a little more life in the fourth quarter putting up 19 points but it was surely not enough. Humber had their largest margin of victory this season winning by 46 points tonight. The Hawks have now won 11 straight games officially making them the hottest team in the OCAA. They will look to avenge their first loss of the season against Fanshawe next week in what should be a classic.
