TOP RECRUIT CHLOE ROWE SET TO JOIN HUMBER BADMINTON

ETOBICOKE, ON: The country's most successful badminton program just signed their first recruit for the upcoming 2016-17 season with the addition of doubles standout Chloe Rowe.

"We are absolutely excited to have Chloe join our program," said associate director of athletics and recreation Michael Kopinak.  "She is an extremely gifted athlete and I am excited to watch her compete for Humber and carry on our proud athletic tradition."

A native of Newcastle, Rowe will be joining a program that won six Ontario Colleges Athletic Association medals and four Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association medals this season.  No stranger to success, Rowe was named 2015 Badminton Ontario's U19 Female Athlete of the Year while finishing the season ranked first in the country for U19 women's doubles.

"I chose Humber College because they have amazing support for their athletes," said Rowe.  "Humber offers a wide range of program choices and features a top-notch badminton program."

At the age of three, Rowe began playing badminton on a homemade court her father made out of sand in their back yard.  Since, Rowe has rapidly moved up the national rankings and into the badminton spotlight.  In December, Rowe competed in the 2015 Yonex Atlantic Junior Elite Series in Moncton, New Brunswick, where she captured the gold in singles and women's doubles.

Rowe will be enrolling in the challenging fitness and health promotion program, a two-year diploma offered at Humber North Campus.

"I choose fitness and health promotion because I believe my prior knowledge with fitness and sports will allow me to be successful in this program," added Rowe.

In March 2017, Humber will be hosting the CCAA Badminton National Championship and Chloe and her teammates will have a chance to compete in front of their home fans.
