Women's Soccer Wins Indoor Regionals Title, Advances to Provincials

ANCASTER – Humber women's indoor soccer – the three-time defending OCAA champions – cruised through regional competition Monday to earn a spot at the provincial championship next week.

Humber's high-flying offence was on full display, outscoring its opponents 24-3 in four matches. Giulia Zanardi led all scorers with five tallies, while freshmen Catarina Mederios and Emma Stushnoff recorded four goals, each. Keeper Vanessa Fiore recorded three wins with two clean sheets.

That match of the day concluded the tournament and saw Humber take on undefeated Redeemer. Claudia Piazza opened the scoring in the fourth minute, followed by the first of three tallies from Giulia Zanardi. The Hawks went on to earn the regional title, defeating the Royals, 6-0.

The Hawks will now look to become the first OCAA program to win four straight OCAA women's indoor titles. Humber is the only team to win three straight – a feat the club has accomplished on three separate occasions (1999-01, 2011-13, 2017-19).
