WELLAND, ON: The Humber Hawks men's volleyball team wanted to rebound from their only loss of the year in a strong way, and they did just that in a workmanlike 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-21) road win over the Niagara Knights.
Set one brought a series of fast paced rallies, displaying both teams athleticism. The Hawks began to pull away from the Knights as Rafael Hilário put on an offensive show in the front row. The crowd began to go insane once Rafael Hilário nailed a kill onto an opponents head, shifting all the momentum onto Humber's court. Now down by 10, the Knights called a timeout and hoped to turn their side of the court around. But this failed to work, as a serving run by Xavier Reid quickly ended the match at 25-15.
Niagara took an early 0-3 lead going into the second set. The Hawks seemed stuck, as it took them a few points to start playing like usual. Quickly regaining the lead, the Hawks pushed into a 6 point advantage. Outplaying the Knights, Humber kept their foot on the gas and continued to widen the lead. A timeout by Niagara at 21-14 was too little too late as they were unable to bring themselves back into the game. The set ended 25-18.
Despite losing the last two sets by quite a few points, the Knights brought all the firepower they had into the third set. Rafael Hilário shifted tthe momentum of the gameas he nailed a right side kill down the line.
Soon after, the Hawks faced a series of unforced errors which launched the Knights into a 13-15 lead. Coach Wayne Wilkins called a timeout for the Humber Hawks as they started to fall behind. Turning themselves around after the break, the Hawks nailed down four kills to retake the lead at 20-16. Pushing down point after point, the Hawks closed out the game at a strong 25-21.
The lead scorer in this match were Rafael Hilário with 12 kills. Eduardo Silva Ferreira and Andrew Blakey picked up 5 kills each.

The Hawks look to close out their 2018 season next Thursday, December 6th, in the Hawks Nest. They will take on the Conestoga Condors at 8pm.
