HAWKS ROLL TO WIN AT REDEEMER INVITATIONAL

HAWKS ROLL TO WIN AT REDEEMER INVITATIONAL

ANCASTER, ON: Preparation for the provincial championships continued on Friday for the Humber Hawks men's soccer team who travelled to Redeemer College for an indoor tournament.

The Hawks came up big this tournament after bowing out early in the previous one to their rivals the Sheridan Bruins two weeks ago. After allowing one goal over four games the Hawks found themselves champions at the Redeemer invitational for the second straight year.

The difference between the two tournaments is the team the Hawks had put on the field. In the first tournament the team played shorthanded, missing many key players.

This time around the Hawks travelled with more bodies hoping to return home with a championship win.

This tournament had no bearing on standings or the indoor season and was just a tune up for the provincial championship's, which take place in March.

The Hawks just needed three wins to make the finals but the path to the championship game wouldn't be easy.

In the first three games the Hawks played they went up against Centennial College, Seneca College and the Sheridan Bruins. The results were as followed:

Humber College 2-0 Centennial College

Humber College 4-1 Seneca College

Humber College 3-0 Sheridan College

After putting together three straight wins the Hawks were onto the finals where they took on the George Brown Huskies.

Humber in the end was just too much for the Huskies and in the end took the finals by a score of 4-0.

With this win the Hawks will now prepare for the regional championships which take place at the end of February. The regional tournament will determine what the Hawks ranking is heading into the provincial championships, which the Hawks are heading into as the defending champions.

If the Hawks were to win the indoor provincial championship they would complete the sweep of indoor and outdoor men's soccer. In the outdoor fall season the men's won the provincial and Canadian National Championships.
