Action-packed postseason weekend on tap for Humber Athletics

ETOBICOKE – The postseason is in full swing for Humber Athletics, as all four court sport teams will be competing for a provincial title. Action begins February 23, and every game will be streamed live online.


Men's Volleyball

Winners of 14 consecutive OCAA postseason matches, the Hawks are in search of history – winning four straight provincial titles for the first time in program history. The Colts are in the semifinal round after an upset victory of St. Clair in five sets. This will be just the second meeting between these two programs since 1994. The semifinal winner gets an automatic berth to the CCAA national championship tournament in British Columbia.

No. 3 Humber is heading to Seneca to take on No. 12 Loyalist in the semifinal round in search of the program's third straight title and the 16th during the Coach Wilkins era. The Hawks have won ten straight OCAA postseason matches, only dropping one set along the way. Humber has won 13 of the last 15 OCAA championships, while Loyalist is in pursuit of the program's first OCAA medal.

The 130th edition of 'the Game' takes place Saturday at the North Campus Gym, as No. 9 Humber welcomes the Bruins for quarter-final action. It's been almost a decade since these two teams met at the Hawks Nest during the postseason, where Humber won 85-75 in the 2016 semifinal, eventually capturing the provincial title. The Hawks are 3-0 all-time against the Bruins at home in the postseason; however, Sheridan has won two straight postseason games against the Hawks.

In a rematch of the 2023 OCAA gold medal game, Humber will be heading to Sarnia to take on the top-seed in the West Division, No. 7 Lambton. The Lions enter the quarter-final on an eight-game win streak and are 8-1 at home this season. The Hawks have lost three of their last four meetings against Lambton.
