2022 Humber Varsity Awards

ETOBICOKE – The Humber Department of Athletics held its 35th annual awards banquet on April 8, honouring the accomplishments of its student-athletes from the 2021-22 season.

The Hawks captured five CCAA national titles and 11 OCAA gold medals, while eight players were named CCAA All-Canadians, and five were selected as the OCAA Player of the Year.

Teresa Arnini, the founder of Humber's High-performance Centre, was honoured during the event and had the HPC Athlete of the Year award renamed in her honour.

Women's soccer legends Keyla Moreno and Rosie Ormeno made an appearance to congratulate head coach Mauro Ongaro on an incredible career. After a quarter-century with Humber soccer, Coach Ongaro is stepping away.

Awarded to an athlete who was a dominant performer in the league, a statistical leader, and someone recognized by the league through awards such as an All-Canadian or Player of the Year on the provincial or national level.

Awarded to an athlete for perseverance and/or resiliency through adversity, and these three athletes demonstrated resiliency to achieve great success for their teams:

Humber Leadership Award

Awarded to an athlete who exemplifies leadership qualities throughout the year in all aspects of varsity (locker room, classroom, HPC, VAC, wearing the H).  These three athletes have shown over their time to lead in many ways, sometimes quietly, but always letting their game speak.
