WOMEN’S BASKETBALL LOOKING TO STAY PERFECT AGAINST CAMBRIAN

The Women's Basketball Team will be looking to stay undefeated this weekend when they play host to the Cambrian Shield on both Saturday and Sunday.

Leading the way for the Hawks has been star point guard Ceejay Nofuente, who has looked great thus far in her return to the court from last year's lower body injury. Through two games, she boasts a stat line of fourteen points a game, 52.6 percent from the field, over 45 percent from beyond the arc and two and a half steals per game. Her ability to take games over in the clutch has also shone through, as Nofuente took control late in Humber's tight season opening win. Ruth Holland and Aleena Domingo are averaging double digit points themselves while shooting nearly fifty percent from the field; Holland has provided solid low post defense while Domingo has done the same on the wing. The team as a whole has shot 44 percent from the field, over six percent better than opponents, and averaged eleven steals a contest. The blue and gold are outrebounding opponents by a staggering 17.5 board a game, mainly because of their dominance on the offensive end; Humber is averaging a whopping nineteen offensive rebounds a game.

Four of the Hawks next five games will be on the road, making this weekend that much more crucial. They will face a couple of Ontario's toughest teams over that stretch, and leaving the friendly confines of the Athletic Centre with momentum would be nice. Last season Humber was the Western Division's stingiest defense, as well as being among the provinces highest scoring outfits, trends that appear to be continuing this year. Through just two games, the Hawks are on a trajectory to be among Ontario's best on both ends of the court.

The Hawks defeated Cambrian soundly in both meetings last year; in the pair of road games, they won by a combined 90 points. Tip-off is set for 6pm on Saturday night, check back throughout the night for updates andlivestreaming.
