4-0 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SET TO TAKE ON ST. CLAIR THIS SATURDAY

The Humber Hawks Women's Basketball Team will look to continue their hot start to the season on Saturday night when they travel to Windsor to take on the St. Clair Saints.

The Hawks have looked dominant on both ends of the court thus far, boasting the OCAA's most potent offense while fielding one of the provinces stingiest defenses. Humber has outscored opponents by nearly twenty-two points a game, and in doing so have shot over six percent better from the field than Mohawk, Redeemer and Cambrian while assisting on nearly twenty-four baskets a game. Leading the way offensively for a team that is putting up close to eighty points a game have been the quartet of Llyandra Kerr, Aleena Domingo, Ceejay Nofuente and Ruth Holland. Each are averaging double digit points while shooting around fifty percent, impressive efficiency for the squad's highest volume scorers; Domingo and Kerr have also been near automatic at the line, shooting 92.9 and 87.5 percent respectively.

Nofunete, the team's starting point guard, has been a terror on the defensive end, averaging two steals per game while consistently hounding the opposition's top players. She has returned from injury looking better than ever, taking control of games down the stretch and play an unselfish, all-around game; there is no doubt she has been the catalyst behind the squads torrid start. Down low, it has been power forwards Kerr and Atissa Cronk who have dominated the paint for the blue and gold; the two are combining for over fifteen rebounds a game while also showing quick hands in getting over two steals per game.

The squads depth bodes very well over the long haul, as seven Hawks are currently averaging at least fifteen minutes per game. With such a deep bench, Humber should be less taxed and head into post season play with fresh legs, a key for a squad with high hopes on both the provincial and national level.

Tip-off is set for 6pm in Windsor, with the Hawks having taken both of the teams matchups last year; they will be looking to continue that trend on Saturday, stay tuned for updates.
