HAWKS PREPARE FOR 2016 HOME OPENER

ETOBICOKE, ON: The Humber Hawks men's baseball program will host their 2016 home opener Sunday afternoon when the Seneca Sting (0-2) come to town.

The Sting began their season Friday night and were shutout in doubleheader action against the Durham Lords (2-0).  Lords pitcher Brodie Harkness tied an OCAA record after striking out 13 Seneca batters in the 5-0 win.

Humber will look to continue their dominance against Seneca, after amassing a 14-0 record against the Sting all-time.  The last time these two programs met, Humber won the game in convincing fashion, posting a 10-0 shutout.  In his freshman season, Hawks pitcher Andrew Blakey (Collingwood) picked up the win, while only allowing one hit in four innings of work.   Outfielder Kenneth Hahnfield (Georgetown) collected two hits, including a solo homerun.

First game of Sunday's home opener will begin at 1:00pm.  Dean of Students Jen McMillen will be on hand to throw out the opening pitch.  All Humber home games are free of charge and can also be streamed live by clicking here.

The Humber Hawks are pleased to be hosting the 2016 OCAA Championships.  The top four teams will be invited to the double elimination tournament which will be held at Connorvale Park on October 21 and 22.
