ETOBICOKE - After a 2-year hold on hosting, Humber’s Extramural Hockey Tournament returned to Westwood Arena on Friday, March 11, 2022.  The annual event was postponed in the fall semesters of 2020 and 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Registration for this Ontario Collegiate Recreation event was limited this year, but organizers were able to welcome ten teams from six institutions including:  Georgian, La Cite, McMaster, Redeemer, Trent and the host squad from Humber.

The tournament was staffed with current student employees, alumni and a number of former Humber hockey players in various roles, bringing a feeling of camaraderie and community to the event.

Humber’s teams were particularly successful at their home tournament with the women’s team winning their second championship of the season and maintaining zero goals against.  The men’s team finished as semi-finalists after their only loss to the tournament’s eventual champions from La Cite.  

Both teams are in action for their final events of the year on March 23^rd at Georgian College in Barrie.
