CALEDON – The province's top collegiate runners will compete on Saturday at the 2021 OCAA Cross Country Championships, hosted by Humber College and presented by belairdirect.

Previous Championships

Humber College will be hosting cross country for the first time since 2013 when it hosted the CCAA national championships. 35 programs and 241 student-athletes participated in the event, making it the largest event of its kind at the national level.

Humber Cross Country

Led by first-year head coach Scott Skimming, the Humber men's cross country team has narrowly missed the podium in both invitationals this season. Toronto native Umberto Lopardo has finished in the top-seven, while Brendan Woolley has been top-25 in both events. Sofia Vozza has two top-10 finishes for the women's squad, including a sixth-place finish at the Centennial Invitational.

The Field

In the women's six-kilometre race, Catherine Irwin from St. Lawrence has dominated each invitational this season and looks to be the heavy favourite for the individual title. The defending champion Laurier-Brantford will have some work to do to successfully defend its title, as the Fanshawe Falcons have won both team events this season.

In the men's eight-kilometre race, the 2019 national champion Fanshawe Falcons will be looking to defend its provincial title, winning nine OCAA team gold medals since 2009. 2016 CCAA individual national champion Seth Marcaccio (Fanshawe) has won both invitationals this season and is primed to make a run at another individual title.

Race Site

Albion Hills Conservation Area is located in Caledon, approximately 30-kilometres north of Humber College. Albion Hills offers a challenging course with mixed terrain, large warm-up areas and spots for teams to set up tents.
