ETOBICOKE – To improve the visibility of prospective runners attending Humber College and the University of Guelph-Humber, cross country head coach Scott Skimming will be hosting a 5k time trial identification event on August 14 and 28.

The ID event will be a hybrid approach, offering athletes the opportunity to run at the Humber Arboretum in person starting at 11 a.m. or virtually using the Strava app and sharing the results with Coach Skimming.

There will be no charge for the event, however, all athletes will be required to register on Trackie. Registration for August 14 can be found HERE and August 28 can be found HERE

There will be Humber swag awarded to top finishers, as well as some random draws.

Official tryouts for the 2021 Humber cross country team will begin in September and will be by invitation-only. For those looking to receive an invitation, please complete the tryout form above and register for the ID event on Trackie.

For the 2021-22 varsity season only, tryout(s) are not guaranteed and will be by invitation-only.

To be granted a tryout in a respective sport, the following must occur:

  1. The prospective student-athlete MUST fill out the tryout form and provide the highest level played within their sport, along with any awards received. It is also strongly encouraged to provide the coaches with a video link that will help showcase their talent.  A member of the coaching staff will then determine if the prospective student-athlete warrants an opportunity to participate in an upcoming tryout date(s).  Please fill out the tryout form a minimum of 48 hours before the posted dates.

If a tryout is granted, the prospective student-athlete must:

  1. Print off and complete a PAR-Q form that will be submitted on the first day of tryouts.
  2. The athlete will also be required to show proof of being fully vaccinated for Covid-19 or be able to show a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the tryout date. Proof of being fully vaccinated was either provided at the appointment time or sent by email. For those not being able to find their vaccination receipt, please visit https://www.publichealthontario.ca/en/about/faqs.
Additional Notes:
  1. If a student-athlete is successful in their tryout(s), they must be fully vaccinated by September 16, 2021, to continue playing. Learn more about the Humber Department of Athletics Vaccination Policy.
  2. Due to Covid-19 and the policies implemented by the HDA, anyone who shows up to tryouts without fulfilling the above requirements will be denied access to tryouts for that day. If additional tryouts remain, there is a possibility to complete one on another day.
  3. Tryouts are closed to the public and only those invited to attend tryouts will be granted access to the facility.
