The Storyline

No. 6 Humber women's soccer (7-3-0) will open the 2021 CCAA Championship tournament on Nov. 10 against the No. 3 SAIT Trojans (8-0-0). Kick-off is set for 3 p.m. EST and will be streamed live via the Hawks Sports Network on CCAA Live.

Final Farewell

Prior to the match, Humber will honour four graduating student-athletes: Rebecca SprattGiulia ZanardiVanessa Fiore, and Breanna Senfner. Combined, these graduates have played in 147 career caps for Humber.

Last Time Out

The Hawks made an improbable comeback in the OCAA bronze medal match, defeating No. 2 Seneca in overtime, 3-2. Rookie of the year Kaitlynn Russell buried two goals, including the game-winner, and senior Giulia Zanardi converted a penalty kick as time in regulation expired.

Scouting the SAIT Trojans
  • SAIT captured the ACAC championship with a 1-0 victory over the NAIT Ooks.
  • The Trojans' last CCAA appearance was in 2018, finishing eighth at Douglas College.
  • Meaghan Wiebe and Jaime McPherson were named CCAA All-Canadians.
  • Wiebe finished second in the conference with 27 points – 13 goals, one assist.
  • This will be the first-ever meeting between these two programs.
The Big Dance

Humber's last appearance at nationals was in 2012, finishing sixth with a 1-3 record in Prince Edward Island.

Home Field

The Hawks hosted the 2009 CCAA Championship, finishing fifth with a 1-2 record. Both Humber losses came in penalty kicks after regulation finished with a 0-0 draw.

Humber is 3-5 all-time against the Alberta conference.

Final Four

In eight CCAA postseason appearances, the Hawks have reached the final four, five times.

Gotta Start Fast

All-time, the Hawks are 1-7 in the CCAA quarter-final round, with their only victory coming against Medicine Hat in 2001 in penalty kicks.

A win will put the Hawks in the semifinal round against the winner of Ste. Foy/Saint-Boniface on Nov. 11 at 5:30 p.m. A loss puts the Hawks in the bronze quarter-final against the loser of that match at 12:30 p.m.
