The Storyline

Humber welcomes the 2019 OCAA silver medalists Wednesday evening for its 2021 home opener. The match will be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Last Time Out

Humber opened the '21 campaign in dominant fashion, defeating George Brown on the road, 9-0. Rookie Cara Serapiglia led the Hawks with three tallies, while senior Giulia Zanardi added two of her own.

  • The Sting enter the season as the No. 2 ranked program in the province, 8th on the CCAA.
  • Seneca opened its season with a big 9-0 victory at home against the Sault Cougars on Sept. 18.
  • Shanice Alfred recorded a hat trick in the win, as Seneca recorded seven tallies in the opening 45 minutes.
  • The Hawks are 1-1-0 against Seneca at home during the regular season.
  • With the new divisional alignments this season, this will be the first meeting between these two teams in the regular season since 2016.
Previous Meeting

In a bid to make its fourth straight provincial championship match, Humber fell to Seneca in the 2019 semifinal round. After surrendering an early lead, Emma Stushnoff tied the match at the six-minute mark. Another goal from the Sting to start the second half was enough to defeat Humber, 2-1.

Home is where the heart is

The Hawks own an all-time record of 83-8-13 (.861) at home. Humber currently owns a 14-match unbeaten streak at home (13-0-1), with their last loss coming against Seneca in 2016, 1-0.

Movin' on up

Senior Giulia Zanardi sits fourth all-time with 27 career regular-season tallies. Humber Hall of Famer Connie Tamburello holds the third spot with 35 goals.

Brick Wall

Senior keeper Vanessa Fiore recorded her 24th career clean sheet in Friday's victory. In 36 matches, the Brampton native owns a 0.42 goals-against-average.

Dishin' Dimes

The 2021 season will be the first season where assists are kept as an official statistic. Midfielder Catarina Medeiros is the early season leader, recording two assists in Friday's victory.

In the first installment of the CCAA national rankings, the Hawks are the 11th ranked program in the CCAA.
