NORTH YORK – Humber opened its 2021 season at Esther Shiner Stadium with a dominant victory over the George Brown Huskies, 9-0.

Senior Giulia Zanardi led the way for the Hawks (1-0, 1st Central), scoring her first of two tallies on the night in the second minute. Less than ten minutes later, the Tottenham native managed to find the back of the net again, giving Humber an early two-goal lead.

Before the Huskies (0-1, 4th Central) were able to catch their breath, Kiara Puntillo recorded her first goal in a Humber uniform, giving the Hawks a three-goal lead before the game clock hit the 15-minute mark.

With ten minutes to go before the break, Rebecca Spratt found a streaking Emma Stushnoff, who buried it in the back of the net for her fourth career goal.

Humber's backline was dominant in the first half, not allowing George Brown to record a shot on net.

The Hawks continued their dominance into the second half and at the 50-minute mark was awarded a free-kick outside the 18-yard box. Rookie Elisa Oliveira was tasked with taking the shot and made no mistake, floating a shot over the wall and past the keeper, extending Humber's lead to five.

In the 58th minute, Cara Serapiglia crossed in swerving past three defenders and shot wide, just deflecting off the keeper. From the awarded corner kick, Cassy Ettore managed to shimmy it past the defenders and goalie, recording her first goal tally.

Four minutes later, Breanna Senfner took a freekick that hit the woodwork but followed that up minutes later to score from outside the box, rolling past the goalie in the 66-minute mark.

Rookie Cara Serapiglia added two more tallies before the clock hit the 70-minute mark, recording a hat trick in her first OCAA match.
