Humber to host 2021 CCAA Women’s Soccer National Championship

ETOBICOKE – The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) has selected Humber College to host the 2021 Women's Soccer National Championship.

The 30th instalment of the championship tournament will take place at the Ontario Soccer Centre in Vaughan, from Nov. 10 to 13.

"Over the years we have been recognized for our outstanding hospitality and gifting and we will continue this tradition," said Humber Director of Athletics, Ray Chateau. "Keeping the challenges created by the pandemic in mind, it is our intention to deliver an exceptional student-athlete experience that complies with provincial, national and local public health guidelines and directives."

The eight-team tournament will feature six conference champions, including the debut of the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC). The MCAC champion will be joined by the top team from the Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST), Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC), OCAA, Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) and Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA). The Hawks, who automatically qualify as hosts, and a wildcard team from RSEQ, will round out the field.

Humber last hosted the women's national championship in 2009, finishing in fifth place after dropping its first two matches in penalty kicks. The Hawks have made eight national championship appearances, reaching the final four five times, capturing three CCAA bronze medals (2000, 2008, 2010).

The RSEQ conference leads the CCAA with 15 national titles, followed by the PACWEST with 11. Garneau has become a national power, winning six of their 10 CCAA titles over the last decade. Despite eight CCAA medals – three from Humber – the OCAA has yet to win a national championship in women's soccer.

Tickets for the tournament will go on sale on October 25 at noon ET and all capacity limitations will be in accordance with public health regulations. All eight matches will also be streamed live on the Hawks Sports Network.

Arrangements for media credentials for the tournament can be made through the Humber athletics communications office. Credentials will be required for anyone who wishes to cover the tournament. More information regarding credentials can be found in the Humber Athletics Media Credential Policy.
