Women's Golf defend national title

AJAX – Humber women's golf successfully defended its national title Friday, finishing the four-day tournament in first place. It was the program's sixth national title since 2001, as the Hawks went the distance, leading the tournament from start to finish.

Humber took the lead for good on moving day, turning their five-stroke lead after 36 holes into a 21-stroke lead heading into the final day.

On a challenging track at Deer Creek Golf Club, Hayley McCallum went the distance, capturing her first individual CCAA national title. In a three-way tie at the top of the leaderboard after round one, McCallum used a two-over par 74 to give herself a seven-stroke lead and never looked back.

Sitting in sixth after three rounds, Madison Ouellette made a massive jump up the leaderboard, capturing the silver medal with an even-par 72 – finishing as the only player in the tournament to shoot par or better.

Elaine Surjoprajogo narrowly missed the podium, finishing two strokes back of third. Despite the podium miss, Elaine had three rounds that contributed to Humber's team score. All three players were also named CCAA All-Canadians.

For head coach Nick Trichilo, it was his third national title with the women's squad since he took over the program in 2013.

Humber 1 Score +47 (158-161-157-147 – 623)
