Three-peat for Women’s Golf

NIAGARA – It was déjà vu for the Humber women's golf team, who dominated the 2022 OCAA Championship at the Legends of Niagara – Battlefield from start to finish.  The Hawks successfully defended their title for the third straight season, capturing the 12th OCAA team championship in program history.

Second-year phenom Madison Ouellette opened the tournament firing an even-par 72 and never looked back, cruising to her first individual OCAA title. Humber legend Hayley McCallum finished 13 strokes back, earning the individual silver medal and finishing on the podium for the fourth straight season. Elaine Surjoprajogo completed the trifecta, earning her third straight bronze medal, finishing three strokes back of McCallum.

Similar to last season, Humber beat St. Clair by 45 strokes, while St. Lawrence finished third, 194 strokes behind Humber.

All three players were named to the OCAA All-Tournament team.

Tournament Highlights
  • Hayley McCallum became the first player in program history to finish on the podium in four consecutive seasons (2 gold, and 2 silver).
  • Humber women's golf is the only program to sweep the podium, a feat the Hawks have now accomplished three times (2007, 2021, 2022).
  • Madison Ouellette's opening round 72 is the second lowest round in program history at provincials. Adrienne D'Alessio's one-under-par in 2014 remains the program record.
  • It's the fifth team title for head coach Nick Trichilo.
  • Humber's opening round of 150 was the second-lowest in team history, one off the record set in 2008.
