No. 3 Women's Basketball secures spot in OCAA Final Four

ETOBICOKE – No. 3 Humber women's basketball punched their ticket to the OCAA Final Four, defeating the Mohawk Mountaineers (4-6, 4th West) Saturday afternoon at the North Campus Gym, 98-45.

Miea Campbell-Johnson delivered another dominant performance Saturday afternoon, picking up her eighth double-double of the season, finishing with 26 points, 16 rebounds, three blocks, two steals and one assist.

Three more Hawks finished with double-digit point totals. Brittney English finished with 18 points while Nikki Ylagan and Jasmin Onate recorded 16 and 12 points respectively.

The Hawks set the tone on the defensive end in the first quarter, holding the visiting Mountaineers to just eight points in the quarter on 3-of-20 (15.0 percent) shooting from the floor on way to an eight-point lead.

Humber opened the second quarter out strong pushing their lead up to 17-points thanks to a 9-0 run. The Mountaineers fought their way to end the quarter down just eight-point heading into the break.

The Hawks have dominated the OCAA in the third quarter all season and this game would be no different, as Humber put together an 18-2 run in the third helping them to take a 24-point lead into the final quarter.

Humber outscored Mohawk 67-22 over the final two quarters as they cruised to the 49-point victory.
