No. 3 Women's Basketball downs Seneca to begin postseason push

ETOBICOKE – No. 3 Humber women's basketball clinched a spot in the OCAA quarter-final round after cruising over the Seneca Sting (0-9, 8th East) Wednesday evening at the North Campus Gym, 97-45.

The Hawks starters were dominant in the win, as all five finished with double-digits in points. Kia Watt led the way with a game-high 22 points while Nikki Ylagan finished just shy with 21 points of her own. Miea Campbell-Johnson recorded yet another double-double on 15 points and 18 rebounds, while Brittney English and Sarah Baptie rounded things out with 16 and 12 points, respectively.

After an uncharacteristically slow start to the game, Humber put together one of their most dominant stretches of the season, closing out the half on a 29-2 run to take a 49-22 lead into the break. Humber shot 12-of-24 (50.0 percent) from the floor in the second frame, while holding Seneca to just three made field goals in the quarter.

The halftime break did little to slow down the Humber's momentum, as they outscored Seneca 48-23 over the final two quarters of play to coast to the final buzzer.
