Fadare named 2022 CCAA National Player of the Year

LIMOILOU, QC – Humber's Joshua Fadare was named the 2022 Men's Volleyball National Player of the Year, as announced by the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) committee Thursday afternoon.

The coveted award will be presented to Fadare prior to the team's first match on Friday against CMU, as part of the 2022 national championship tournament. The middle blocker became just the second player in program history to receive the honour, joining Terrel Bramwell who captured the award a decade ago.

After a freshman campaign that saw Fadare earn conference rookie of the year honours, the Markham native took his game to the next level. He helped lead Humber to its second straight undefeated season against the OCAA, capturing back-to-back provincial titles. Fadare's 6.1 points per set was the highest in the country – becoming just the second player in conference history to average six-plus points since the scoring changes in 2000. Fadare also set a new single-season program record, averaging 1.00 aces per set.

Other nominees for the award was Matthew Shand (Douglas), Karym Coleman (Briercrest), Charles St-Aubin (Limoilou), and Gustavo Lobato (St. Thomas).

With the awards announcement officially over, Fadare and the Hawks will now set their sights on the program's second national title, beginning with CMU March 25. First serve is set for 8 p.m. ET and will be streamed on CCAA live.
